You have all your shopping done, don’t you? It’s likely most of you have your refrigerator stocked, and your Christmas tree up, gifts all wrapped, and you’re sitting back in your favorite chair with your feet propped up drinking hot cocoa as you marvel over your grand success. Oh, and I bet you have your house in order with Christmas music blasting and candles lit and even flickering in unison to the theme of a different more organized in-your-face holiday beat. Yeah, that’s not me. My shopping is done only because I made a plan and conquered it in two hours with gazelle intensity (ever see a gazelle escape the chase of a hungry lion) but my house looks like a Christmas bomb went off. And just now, I thought of a quick gift I can give some friends which is something I can’t wait to share with you as well. You know, just in case you’d like to do one more thing with all that free time you have since you attacked the holiday channeling Martha Stewart.

I always say, “I don’t want to fall in love, I want to fall in chocolate!” When you taste this sultry rum version of chocolate, I think you’ll agree. The buttery rum mixed with the chocolate raspberry will literally assault your taste buds and take you to chocolate heaven. The ideas are endless as to where this topping can take you. It can turn an ordinary spoon into a metal lollipop when you scoop a little out just for a quick snack. Or mix it in your morning coffee. It’s perfect paired with a slice of cake. But on ice cream–a little fire and ice can make even a monkey blush.

When I make this at the cafe Robin has some sort of groan she makes--meaning whatever plans she had for watching her food intake is now out.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup rum
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup frozen raspberries
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over high heat melt the butter and then add the brown sugar. Stir until blended. Add rum and stir. Allow to cook as you stir for 30 seconds. Now add the chocolate chips and raspberries. Stir until completely melted and blended.
Pour into prepared containers. I use decorative mason jars.
Serve over ice cream or any dessert.
This is WONDERFUL!!!! I wasn’t a fan of fruit and chocolate mixed together, but THIS will make a person change their mind! This sauce is good on anything… : ) I love it drizzled on lemon cake, or ice cream, or brownies, or…you get my point!
